Concerns Of Police Survivors, Inc. (COPS)

National. 54 chapters. Founded 1984. Provides resources for the surviving families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty according to Federal criteria. Also offers law enforcement training. Quarterly newsletter, departmental guidelines and peer support. Provides annual national Police Survivors Conference each May during National Police Week. Special hands-on programs for survivors. Summer camp for children (ages 6-14) and their parent/guardian, parents' retreats, affected co-worker retreats and spouses get-away. Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS)

National network. Provides support for persons who have lost a loved one while serving in the armed forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, National Guard, Reserves, Service Academies, Coast Guard and contractors serving beside the military). National Fallen Firefighters Fdn. Survivors Support Network

National network. Founded 1992. Provides emotional support to spouses, families and friends of firefighters who have died in the line of duty and are honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, MD. Members are matched with survivors of similar experiences to help them cope during the difficult months following the death.

Group members view a video each session, followed by discussion and complete weekly exercises. Workbooks are required for each member.
